The browser extension, step by step

The WebBoard extension bridges your browser and your desktops. It takes two minutes: install it, connect it with a token, done.

1. Install the extension

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera

1. Open chrome://extensions in your browser, then turn on Developer mode (toggle, top right).
2. Click "Load unpacked" and select WebBoard's extension folder. The "WebBoard — Favoris en un clic" card appears in the list.
3. Click the puzzle 🧩 icon to the right of the address bar, find WebBoard, then click the pin 📌 to keep the icon always visible.

Firefox

Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, click "Load Temporary Add-on" and pick the manifest.json file inside the extension folder. (On Firefox, an add-on loaded this way disappears when the browser restarts.)

2. Connect your account

The extension needs a token to know which account to save your bookmarks to. You generate it in one click from WebBoard.

1. In WebBoard, open the profile menu (top right) → My account. Scroll to the "🧩 Browser extension" section, then click "Show token".
2. Click "Copy" (the button appears once the token is shown).
3. Click the WebBoard icon in the toolbar, paste the token into the field, then click "Connect".

3. Use the extension

1. On any site, click the WebBoard icon: adjust the name if needed, choose the destination desktop, then Save.
2. Or right-click the page (or a link directly) → "Save to WebBoard". A notification confirms the save.
3. Open a new tab: you land on the WebBoard page, with search and your desktops.

Frequently asked questions

I get an "Invalid token" message

The token was probably regenerated since, or the copy was incomplete. Go back to My account → Browser extension, click "Show token", copy it in full, then paste it again into the extension.

I can't see the WebBoard icon in the toolbar

Click the puzzle 🧩 icon to the right of the address bar: the extension is there. Click the pin 📌 to show it permanently.

The desktop list is empty

Create at least one desktop in WebBoard first, then reopen the extension popup.

Can the extension see my browsing?

No. It reads neither your history nor the pages you visit. It only sends the URL and title of the page you choose to save, and only to webboard.me. Details in our privacy policy.
